iPhone

What is Jailbreaking? | Before you Jailbreak… | How to Jailbreak | Winterboard and You | Intro to SSH | How do I get these on my iPhone?

Fact: My lockscreen is flyer than yours.I’m not sure about anyone else, but I am addicted to my iPhone. It is probably the center of everything I do. It’s also made running TPO a lot easier.

I’m a proud jailbreaker, and with the help of Winterboard, I’ve started to trick my iPhone out with custom Buckeye themes I’ve created. I’ve seen a couple of good ones in Cydia, but I want more!

I already have a TP SMS theme that I made back in the spring, and now I’ve started tinkering around with lockscreen, battery, dialer, and other assorted Ohio State-related themes for the iPhone.

So far, I’ve got a pretty cool OSU lockscreen featuring a running Brutus on top of an OSU helmet background. You use the real helmet to unlock your phone by moving it along some grass. Instead of the standard “slide to unlock” text, it reads “Go Bucks!”. And after you slide, you’ll hear O-H! from the cheerleaders. Pretty cool, huh?

I’ll put my Buckeye iPhone theme creations right here. I’ll probably end up publishing them to some repo (so you can install them directly from Cydia) as well, but for starters, they’ll be right here.

With some downtime in between the regular season and the bowl game, it’ll keep me busy since news will probably be scarce.

So, in the meantime, if you’re looking forward to my work, and haven’t jailbroken or don’t know how to install themes, I’ve included some recommended reading links at the top of this page.

STAY TUNED

I finally did it! I learned how to create and maintain a repo on my Windows PC. It’s all set-up on a new Buckeye website, Stuff Buckeyes Like! If you don’t want to go over there (and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t as all future iPhone creations will be shared there), simply add the following Cydia source, install Winterboard (if you haven’t already), and have at it!

Enjoy!

January 9, 2011 – Swing & a miss!
I read so much material on how to create my own Cydia repo that I think I almost went cross-eyed. Then I tried a few methods that did not work at all! I know their are options where I don’t have to maintain the repo myself, but I want all the stuff I share in one location and there has yet to be a computer/iPhone project that I didn’t eventually conquer! So, I’ll keep at it! The part that sucks is that I need to use a Mac computer for some of it, and my main computer is a PC. So, I have to learn how to do complicated things in Terminal for this. Wish there were a Windows only (not using Linux) way to do this! Anyway, I’ll keep everyone updated!

So it’s officially the “off season” and updates will be slow. Time for me to make good on the promise to share some iPhone themed creations with Buckeye Nation. I bought a URL for the repo I’m going to make aaannnddd I got an iPhone 4 for my birthday! Score! So, once I make my old 3G themes iOS 4 compatible, I’ll set up the repo and start sharing. But before I do any of that, y’all should read up on what exactly a repo is and how to use it. That way you’ll be ready when I launch!

I’ve decided that I’m going to create a repo and host all my Buckeye creations (not just limited to TP, but there’ll be more feat. him). That might take until the end of the year, but will be easier to share than just putting the themes here and expecting you to download and SSH them into your phone. If none of that made any sense, you’re one of the fans I was thinking of when I decided to make a repo. You’ll just add the source to Cydia, search, and click install! After a reboot, your theme will be live! I’ll probably put some wallpaper on here since, so it’s easier for non-Jailbreakers to get and transfer to their iDevices. And, as I’ve previously mentioned, I’m still rollin’ with my iPhone 3G. Themes will need to be tweaked a little once I get my iPhone 4 in the next month or so. Watch this space…for real this time!

Been a long time since I’ve given an update here. I’ve been busy creating some new stuff for my iPhone. I think y’all are going to like what I’ve come up with. My iPhone is completely decked out, Buckeye style! Note: I created these for an iPhone 3G. I know they work on 3GS, but no clue about iPhone 4. I won’t start theming for iPhone 4 until Apple releases the white one. Then I’ll upgrade and get busy!

Here’s some previews:

I’ve gotten the process down so that it only takes me 10-15 minutes to make a battery theme. I have made an Ohio State helmet battery theme as well as an Ohio State logo battery theme. I’m going to attempt a TP-specific one as well just to see how it works out. These are vertical batteries instead of the stock horizontal style. I think it looks pretty dope. You’ll see!
