Reminder: Watch Gruden’s QB Camp w/ Terrelle Tonight!

June 30, 2011

It airs at 9PM (ET) on ESPN, then immediately re-airs at 10PM on ESPN2.

Word of warning, ESPN is going to be promoting their agenda and piling on more with Ohio State’s NCAA troubles throughout the show. They will make everything sound worse than what it really is, and paint everyone involved (right or wrong) in the worst light possible.

Here’s another preview, to get you ready:

His personality shines through. This is why people like me fell in love with TP and still support him!

I want to watch it live, but don’t think I can handle the ESPN “reporting” segments. If it was just the Gruden/TP footage, it’d be no problem. Maybe I’ll mute the ESPN portions. Yea, that sounds juuuuuuust right. I suggest y’all do the same!

Scratch That: Ken Anderson Is Terrelle’s QB Coach

June 29, 2011

So I guess those other reports were a tad bit off. Or maybe it was a meeting/try-out situation with other potential QB coaches and the fit just right?

Whatever the reason, George Whitlock is not Terrelle’s QB coach as he prepares for the Supplemental Draft. Instead, it is former Cincinnati Bengal Ken Anderson, according to ProFootballTalk.

I’m just glad he’s getting the personal attention he needs to make the best impression possible. Whoever that leads to hiring, I’m allllll for!

Terrelle Pryor Hires A QB Coach

June 27, 2011

Former Massillon and Youngstown State QB George Whitfield Jr. will work as Terrelle Pryor's quarterback coach.

Another great move from TP. He “gets” it.

“It is my understanding I am heading (to Miami). I look forward to working with him. From a kid that grew up in Ohio and knows how important the Buckeyes are and my relationship with coach Tressel and his relationship with coach Tressel … on top of the fact he’s talented and a big competitor. It’s a challenge to me. I know Terrelle wants to be as good as he can be.”

“The big thing is I’ve got to get him more familiar with his operation in the pocket in terms of footwork and throwing from the pocket. Of the guys I’ve worked with, Pryor has played more under center than any of them. It’s not that he’s deficient in that area, but it’s what the NFL wants. The league puts a premium on operation from the cockpit, and we’ll work on that.”

Gruden’s QB Camp: Terrelle Pryor

Gruden's QB Camp with Terrelle Pryor

Gruden Camp with Terrelle Pryor airs next Thursday at 9 pm ET on ESPN, then 10 pm on ESPN2. Pryor was enthused, engaged, intelligent, great.

“Enthused, engaged, intelligent, great” – I know a lot of y’all are mad. HA!

But who didn’t see this coming after the whispers of Terrelle hiring Jon Gruden as his trainer ahead of the supplemental draft? We all knew he’d be involved in some way.

But what most people are probably surprised about is that appears TP came off well and *gasp* intelligent. This doesn’t surprise me at all. People like to act like he hasn’t ever played the QB position before. Let’s also remember that he was going for Academic All-American, people! He’s no dummy. Just made some poor decisions.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that TP worked out with USF players for the special. It’s going to have a different format than the other Gruden camps, but the changes will make it seem like beating a dead horse.

(UPDATE: ESPN says the Pryor episode will air from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on June 30 on ESPN, with a rebroadcast immediately after at 10 p.m. on ESPN2. The show will have a different format from the other Gruden QB shows, with Rece Davis hosting and other segments to update the NCAA investigation at Ohio State and other storylines surrounding Pryor.)

Yippeeeeee… ESPN simply couldn’t waste another opportunity to pile on, could they? I just want to see Terrelle move forward with his life; not a rehash the same BS that ESPN has been shoving down our throats for the past 2-3 months. They say it’s “to update the NCAA investigation”. There are no updates. Just the same ol’ rehashing. Can y’all let it play out, or at least something NEW happen before you start in again? DAMN…

Maybe they’re going to report that 8 of the 9 new players named in the Sports Illustrated piece have already been cleared by the NCAA? Oh. Nevermind.

Happy Birthday, Terrelle!

Rumor Has It…

June 17, 2011

There’s lots of stuff flying around these days. Anyone and everyone with a blog or other platform to offer opinion is speculating where Terrelle will be taken in the supplemental draft. (And don’t kid yourself, he will be drafted in the supplemental. I know a lot of the public thinks he sucks and is destined for a career in the CFL, but that aint happenin’)

So this is a quick rundown of some of the stuff I’ve read today. The shade has been removed for your reading pleasure.

1. ESPN’s John Clayton says there are about 5 teams that could take TP, including Baltimore, Oakland, Miami, Pittsburgh and Washington.

2. ESPN’s AFC North Blogger thinks the Browns should give him a shot. Another team who can’t seem to get it right with QBs. Colt McCoy seems to be “the guy” there, even though he’s only been there one year. But Holmgren is going to want to get another QB in there to develop, and no one better than TP, with this opportunity.

3. Mike Mayock, who is pretty much the only NFL analyst you should listen to, thinks TP is a 4th round selection. I can’t argue with that. Rosenhaus musta been drinking with that 1st round stuff. I mean, I run this here TP fansite, and I’m not drinking all that Kool-Aid he is! Read the rest of this entry »

Terrelle Pryor Hires Super Agent

June 13, 2011

According to reports, Terrelle officially has an agent, and he’s a pretty big deal!

Ever heard of Drew Rosenhaus? Of course you have! He’s one of the most high profile and influential agents in all of professional football.

Other rumors swirling around are that TP has also hired Jon Gruden as a trainer and they’re shopping some sort of reality show (I’m assuming following TP as he prepares for supplemental draft.)

Looks like there’s a lot going on! Ill try my best to keep up with it all!

Update on Terrelle’s Foot

January 30, 2011

News has been scarce lately, and I’m not complaining! After the Sugar Bowl win, hearing about TP’s foot surgery, then waiting to make sure he was sticking around for his senior year, things quieted down. It’s likely to stay that way for a while, and I’m actually enjoying it because the last thing the Ohio State football program needs is more drama, am I right?

Anyway, TP’s been keeping busy these days deleting the majority of his tweets on Twitter. If it’s there today, chances are it could be gone tomorrow! Anyway, he was asked about his foot, and gave the following reply:

I screencapped it, because let’s be real, he’ll probably delete it in a few days.

But there ya have it! Cast comes off in 3 weeks! Good to hear!

Jim Tressel Is Smarter Than All of Us

December 30, 2010

For the past few days, I’d been hearing that all of the tatgate offenders, minus Boom, had already told the big guy that they were coming back for their respective senior years. Then, Posey was the only one to mention in in his apology, so I was all “hmmmmm”.

Then I heard that Tress made the players sign a piece of paper guaranteeing they’d be back. I thought that was a good move, but since it wasn’t public, what was to stop them from jumping to the NFL anyway?

Then, today, Tressel dropped the bomb and I love the move! The media is still wondering what’s keeping any of the soon-to-be suspended players from declaring for the NFL. The paper they signed isn’t legally binding or anything. What’s Tressel doing?!

But they’re looking at it from the wrong viewpoint. One of the best parts of being a Buckeye is forever being part of Buckeye Nation. If you leave the program IN GOOD STANDING, you’re pretty much set for life. (See: Craig Krenzel & Justin Zwick) There are future jobs/endorsements/perks former Buckeyes get that us normal people can only wish to grab. Then, look at the former players who end up on the coaching staff, or in the upper ranks of ESPN. Recommendations and easy access to one of the top programs in the country is built in, provided you left on good terms. Following me?

So, no, a piece of paper won’t force them to stay, but what they would forfeit for going back on their word makes for a very costly decision. It may not sound like much to you, but to Buckeyes, that lifestyle and legacy is very important to them. Screwing over their current/future teammates, beloved coach, university, and extended rabid fanbase isn’t something they’ll take lightly. And if you think outsiders are rough on the players, why not check out how some of Buckeye Nation’s own treat them. (Insert analogy about wild animals eating their young) Being labeled traitors, or some other variety of words I choose not to post in this space, will follow them around for the rest of their lives. And that’s before non-Buckeye fans have at them!

Tressel was in a no-win situation. If he sits them for the bowl (on top of a suspension that I think is excessive), in the hopes of getting the suspension reduced, what happens w/ the appeal if the NCAA is pissed since they already risked their rep in making the players eligible? And, on the other hand, if he lets them play, the rest of the college football world will scoff that he’s sending the wrong message.

Since he’s smarter than the rest of us, Tressel took the decision of current punishment out of his own hands and placed it squarely in the hands of the offending players (that is, of course, after he let the seniors vote on whether or not they should play). Well done.

So, Bravo Jim Tressel. Sit back in your cushy chair and prop your feet up on your desk. I’d tell you to light up a cigar too, but I’m pretty sure you don’t smoke. Nice work.

Having said all that, I still think Boom goes, but that’s on him. Good luck with that…
