Join Terrelle Wednesday for a Good Cause!

This Wednesday, August 5, at the Olentangy River Rd. location of Damon’s Grill restaurant, members of the Ohio State Football team will congregate for a charity event that is open to the public.

The team, working with the Uplifting Athletes organization, will host the 2nd annual Uplifting Athletes Charity Video Game Challenge at Damon’s Grill. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and runs from 3-6 PM. The players will be on hand, not only to compete against one another in NCAA 2010, but also to mingle with and sign autographs for fans.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit research for Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease as chosen by the team. It is similar to muscular dystrophy and the very disease that Terrelle’s father has been battling. So, Terrelle will definitely be in attendance to help raise money for the research and treatment of this disease that has touched his life.

As, I’ve mentioned before, there are not too many pubic events where you’ll be able to hang out with players and/or get their autographs. This might be the only one of the year, plus it’s for a great cause! If you’re in town, you might wanna head down to campus on Wednesday. I’m thinking about it, even though I am not a fan of video games. If nothing else, it should be pretty entertaining and I could take pictures and video like it’s my job, couldn’t I? We’ll see!

And even if you can’t go, you can always make an online donation. You can choose offense or defense.

I was going to post about this right after Big Ten Media days, when I found out about it, but got a little busy. Now, that wait turned out to be a good thing, as I now have more information and a video to go along with this plug. Buckeye safety Kurt Coleman was on local news station NBC4 to talk about the event last night. He’s the president of the OSU chapter of Uplifting Athletes. Check out the little clip below the cut.
