Big Ten Preseason Honors Revealed
In, what is somewhat of a surprise to many, Terrelle was named Big Ten Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting it (neither was Coach Tressel) but it’s nice to see that others expect big things out of him just like Buckeye fans do.
To be honest, I was thinking that if he’d get a POTY nod, it would be in the postseason All Conference awards, because then he would have earned it. One thing no one has to worry about is TP getting a big head. That’s not him. He’s probably humbled by the honor and will continue working to prove the media correct for this surely unexpected recognition.
In a similar, but expected, move Ohio State are the preseason favorites to walk away with the conference title. It’s a safe bet as the Bucks have won or shared the title in each of the past 4 seasons. Penn St. was picked 2nd and Michigan State 3rd. Only the top 3 finishers were revealed, but one almost has to guess that Iowa was #4. I think they probably could have flip-flopped with Michigan State based on a lot of the preseason polls and analysis that have already been released this summer.
OSU upperclassmen — and captain candidates — Kurt Coleman, Jake Ballard, and Doug Worthington represented the team in Chicago, along with Coach Tressel. There will be much more news and quotable info to come.
For now, you can already watch Tress’ media session, compliments of the BTN:
