Buckeyes Get Revenge Win Against Illinois

Welcome home, big fella.
I like being right. Let me stop lying… I love being right! I said it would be about a 10 point win and that’s indeed what we got. Now, it should have been a 17 point win, but we gave up a garbage score to Illinois with 42 seconds left. Made the game look close, but it really wasn’t.
Also, as I predicted, Illinois got their yards. We gave up 455 yards of total offense. Big whoop, though. It didn’t get them the points they needed. The Fighting Illini turned the ball over twice, while we only fumbled once, deep in their territory. We won that battle as well as the “time of possession” title, hogging the ball for almost 34 minutes. Malcolm Jenkins blocked a punt to give us a bonus 2 points for our tally.
I gotta give it up to the Oline. I said, in my preview, that the Oline needed to have a big game or Beanie and TP wouldn’t be able to establish our rushing attack. Well, they did just that as Beanie and TP2 rushed for 100+ EACH. Yes, both of them ran all over the Illinois defense. It was beautiful! BTW, did everyone see Beanie’s hurdle over that defender? Sick! Not only that, but there were no sacks! Zero. Great work, gentlemen.
Since it was windy and we had control of the game, it wasn’t a shock to see Tress all but “shut it down” in the 2nd half. Illinois proved to not be able to stop the run, so we continued to pound it. Terrelle only threw 2 passes in the second half! He finished 6 for 9, which covered 49 yards in the air. That including another TD, run in by Dane Sanzenbacher. TP2 slipped into the endzone for the 1st score of the game. They never saw it coming! In all, he carried the ball 13 times for 110 yards.
Again, you can see him grow as a QB. He’s much better at reading defenses and deciding when he needs to scramble/run, or pass.
I also enjoyed seeing TP’s swagger on full display during the game. Players wanna get in his face? Fine. But he doesn’t back down. He jaws right back. Love it! The Illinois locked room may have been fixated on his comments about not losing to them, but he backed it up in a big way, like all the great ones do.
Bring on Michigan! This oughtta be a fun game for Terrelle, since he played them so well during the recruiting season. Y’all know he wasn’t even thinkin’ about signing with them, right? Just toying with them all along. And he should do the same next week, at home, and earn his first pair of gold pants.
