Bye Week Bump

Ohio State was idle this week and due to Georgia getting the snot kicked out of them by Florida (worse than our USC loss) they took a major fall in the polls. So, as a result, the Buckeyes moved up a spot to #12 in the AP poll. Not too shabby for a team who didn’t even play. Remember those weeks where we actually were playing (and winning) but never moved up? Might be onto something here.

So, finally we’re back to preparing for a game. The team will be on the road at Northwestern, who just recorded a last minute come-from-behind win over previously ranked Minnesota. If the Top 25 were actually Top 30, Northwestern would be #26. So, should we get our shit together and take care of the Wildcats, then there’s another quality win for the Scarlet & Gray. And if the team does win, we’ll likely move up because #10 Utah will face #11 TCU on Thursday. The loser of the game will fall into BCS oblivion. That could mean another bump for OSU if we win. There are no gimme wins with this team.

That makes me wonder: which OSU team is going to show up? The one that can’t come together to score an offensive TD or the one who lit up Michigan State? Northwestern is going to be at home and psyched to knock off another ranked Big Ten team. Will their emotional win over Minny end up hurting them? We shall see! The game is set for a noon kick-off on either ESPN or ESPN2. We’ll know more once the game gets closer or when the new coverage maps are released.

I anxiously await Tressel’s Tuesday media luncheon, as well as what some of the players’ thoughts and mindsets are going into the NU game. I have a feeling they’ll bounce back in a big way!
