Stuff (Post-Minnesota Edition)

Another game passed, and I continue to be in awe of one Mr. Terrelle Pryor. He just never ceases to impress. And that’s making me look good because I had the good sense to open this blog. I just knew he’d be something special, but I had no idea I’d get to witness it this quickly! Man, I’m so smart!

Anyway, during TP’s postgame interviews, he still emphasizes how much more he has to learn and how he needs to keep getting better. Wow. Great head on his shoulders. Case in point, the following quote:

“People can say what they want about our team, but we’ll find out in the game coming up this week. We’re out to shock some people. I just want to get better every day. I keep getting experience, and I get better. I’m young. There are things I have to learn. But that’s a big game coming up, and I have to produce and take it on my shoulders to set the tone, like today.”

I like what I’m hearing.

Oh, and quite possibly the best nugget from the interviews was his insight on that nasty hit he put on that Minnesota LB on his way out of bounds, courtesy of the Dispatch.

“I ran out of bounds the play before and then a (Minnesota) coach or somebody said, ‘Why don’t you put your head down and run somebody over instead of running out?’ So I was thinking, ‘OK if I get a chance, I’m going to do it.’ “

Was that a challenge? Bad move, Minny. Bad move.

The next play, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound Pryor dropped back to pass, felt pressure and took off around left end. As he looked upfield, bearing down on him was the 6-foot-1, 226-pound Sharpe.

“I was (thinking), ‘All right, this is it right here. You’re saying I can’t lower my shoulder. I’ve got to prove that.’ “

Note to future opponents and their respective coaching staffs: Don’t bait Terrelle Pryor. He is a bad, bad dude. Oh, and if you want to watch the hit again, click here.

The new polls are out and OSU did not move up despite a number of Top 10 teams falling this weekend. Perhaps if we had committed to playing 4 hard quarters of ball yesterday — instead of 3 — and the final score looked more like 41-6 instead of the 34-21 we ended with, we would have earned some respect and votes. College football fans are not ready to forget about the USC game. The only way OSU can recover, in the eyes of the media, will be to win games convincingly. The team can make a major statement next week in Madison, WI against the now #18 Wisconsin Badgers, who are coming off an upset loss against Michigan yesterday.
