OSU Opens Big Ten Campaign with Win

The Buckeyes defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers this after by a final score of 34-21. The game was not nearly as close as the final score indicates. OSU practically shut it down for the entire 4th quarter (which I hated to see) and allowed Minnesota to score 2 TDs; including 1 in garbage time.

So, at the end of the day, all that talking Minny did this week backfired. They got a little big for their britches and the Bucks brought them back down to earth. Congrats to them on already having a more successful season than last year, but it will be some time before you “dominate” the big boys of the Big Ten.

In his second start, Terrelle had another strong showing. He accounted for 3 TDs (1 pass, 2 run) and was 8 of 13 for 70 yds passing. On the ground, TP ran for 97 yds. And another important stat is that he had no turnovers. Very important. Today’s performance was another record-breaking one. TP’s ground attack set a record for rushing yards for a true freshman QB. He’s just rewriting the OSU history books week by week. The next few years are going to be mighty exciting for us Buckeye fans!

Watch a video recap of the game from ESPN.

The best part of the game, IMO, was the hit Terrelle put on that linebacker in the 4th quarter. He sent that dude way back onto the sideline. Just nasty! Get it, TP! I know you want to see that again, don’t you. Thought so. Watch it below:

POSTGAME QUOTES:

On throwing more:“It is nice to be able to throw down the field. It feels really great. I’m happy to throw. We had some really nice plays. Give credit to our wide receivers on making the plays.”

On starting for the second time in a row:
“It felt really comfortable. Coming into the game, we really wanted to take it down the field on the first drive and were really happy to do that. I want to keep it going and I know I have to keep proving myself.”

On the wide receiver rotation:
“Coach Tressel is a smart coach because he kept putting fresh players in. It will help everyone gain experience, especially playing in a Big Ten game. Tressel knows what he is doing.”
